There are already terabytes of data about your audience, brand or community online. We uncover it, organize it, and then enrich it with human-first research methods.

All to deliver valuable and nuanced insights in just days, at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional research.

These are our two methods/products:

1. Cultural Cartography - cultural landscape in under a week

Our primary methodology investigates what your audience sees online. We believe that what people search, read, follow and see online everyday both reflects and shapes them.

That’s why we leverage data from Instagram, Twitter and TikTok to understands their hobbies, interests, favorite celebrities, unique micro influencers, political beliefs, aspirations, health concerns, music taste, restaurants they love, or home-décor preferences.

Our clients leverage this data to align their brands and communications better with current and/or prospective audiences, speaking into what they care about, engaging with people they follow, and going into the places where people like them visit.

We call it Cartography, because end-results look like this (with a 5-page report attached):

2. Research Technology - finding things out like it’s 2030

We’re the leaders across Research Technology and Research Innovation.

We strongly believe that research methodology has been stuck in 1980s - allowing only often outdated surveys or interviews, with classic, slow, manual analysis of the findings.

We’ve proven time and time again that things can be done very differently. We leverage our custom-built research toolkit, combining data crawlers, digital insights tools, advanced cluster-focused statistical analysis, AI-assisted text and interview processing, hyper-targeted sampling and a wealth of 3rd party insights tools.

Surveys & Interviews are great - but only when combined with a wider range of modern tools!

That’s why we take-on projects that are too “out-there” for anyone else.

We have experience across near-impossible-to-reach groups (i.e. blind/low-vision people), or communities that just won’t be interviewed (i.e. across medical anarchism). We’ve also successfully investigate topics that just cannot be answered with traditional research - such as cultural meanings of everyday words and symbols.

Who we are

Born out of a need for change in the research world

Map The Culture is a loose collective led and owned by Nina Nosal. It’s anywhere between 1.5 and 5 people, willing to jump on projects based on topics, interests and methods.

The idea was born out of countless chats and discussions about how research has grown lazy and stale - more focused on appeasing executives than finding truths and opportunities.

We’ve noticed that “cutting edge research” was often just a 100-question survey and a few interviews, with a premium price-tag. So we explored what “cutting edge” can really look like - leveraging all the digital tools at our disposal.

Now we bring true knowledge to brands and communities with our innovative methodologies and fresh approach

Led by Nina Nosal - a social research innovator

Nina Nosal has been bringing innovation across research & data science for around 8 years.

She started her career back in Poland in 2018 by running a local data-focused marketing business. After she moved to the Netherlands in 2020, she spent 3 years with Polaroid, eventually leading all major insights & data projects across the company.

Over the next few years, she advised and co-run data start-ups, helped develop novel research methods for agencies, and worked with major worldwide brands. Her combined experience perfectly positioned her at the intersection of advanced data technology and high-stakes classical customer research.

Currently, she’s getting this business off the ground, aiming to be “your agency’s favorite agency” by delivering on research projects that are impossible or unfeasible with traditional research methods.
